Trial Lawyer Nelson Boyle to Moderate Colorado Bar Association Appellate Practice Update
The annual Colorado Bar Association Appellate Practice Update takes place on May 6th, 2022. The firm is proud to announce that Burg Simpson shareholder Nelson Boyle, who currently chairs the CBA Appellate Subsection’s CLE Committee, will co-host the event and moderate the Clerks’ and Chief Judges’ Panels.
About the Appellate Practice Update Event
The Appellate Practice Update is an annual event put on by the nonprofit Continuing Legal Education arm of the Colorado Bar Association. It is an opportunity for judges and justices, court clerks, and appellate court practitioners to convene and discuss current developments in Colorado appellate law. It also allows appellate attorneys an opportunity to hear from-the-bench perspectives on relevant issues including standards of ethics and professionalism, brief writing and oral argument skills, and how the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion shape Colorado’s appellate courts.
Nelson Boyle’s experience in appellate litigation makes him an excellent choice for panel moderation. He has practiced in the Colorado supreme court, the Colorado court of appeals, the United States Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and has some experience in United States Supreme Court certiorari practice. Since earning his law degree from University of Denver Sturm College of Law 14 years ago, Boyle has developed a career focused on appeals, while he also maintains a civil trial practice, representing clients in personal injury litigation, bad faith insurance litigation, and commercial litigation. We excitedly look forward to Boyle leading the discussions of Appellate Practice Update guests such as Chief Judge Tymkovich of the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, Chief Justice Boatwright of the Colorado Supreme Court, and Chief Judge Román of the Colorado Court of Appeals.
After-Event Reception & Coronavirus Safety
After the 2022 CBA-CLE Appellate Practice Update will host a New Judges Reception after the final presentation to allow guests and attendees to mingle and continue discussions with their colleagues in a less formal atmosphere. Burg Simpson is proud to sponsor the reception along with several other local law firms. The in-person CLE event and reception are a welcome return to a tradition that was unfortunately interrupted by the Coronavirus pandemic in the last few years. To ensure the safety of everyone involved, both the in-person event itself and the reception afterward will follow local coronavirus safety precautions and those in place at the Ralph Carr Judicial Center, where the event will be held and across the street at the CBA Lobby, 1290 Broadway, Suite 1700, where the reception will take place.
For those who do not wish to attend in person or who are unable to do so, the Appellate Update will also be run as a hybrid-event, with virtual attendance as an option.
Don’t Miss Out—Register Now!
Event registration for the 2022 Appellate Practice Update is now open for both the in-person and virtual versions of the event on the CBA-CLE’s site. The event qualifies for Colorado CLE credits.
