Burg Simpson Launches 2012-13 Colorado High School Scholarship Competition
Denver, Colorado, October 25, 2012 – In an effort to teach the next generation about the importance of the jury system as the guardian of American rights and liberties, Burg Simpson Eldredge Hersh and Jardine, P.C. is launching an essay competition for Colorado high school seniors. Ten winners will each earn a $1,000 college scholarship.
High school seniors from across Colorado are being asked to write an original essay of 1,500 words or less that demonstrates a strong knowledge and application of the role of the jury system in American life. Specifically, students will need to describe why the jury system is essential to protect the rights and liberties of the people. In addition to receiving a $1,000 college scholarship, winning essayists will be invited to attend a special reception for themselves, their families, and their teachers where their award will be presented and their accomplishment will be recognized.
Burg Simpson shareholder Peter Burg said, “The American judicial system is the greatest in the world. It is the only system that allows the people to decide important disputes between citizens and corporations. It is important that our system of justice remains protected and secure for future generations. We hope that by offering these scholarships we can encourage students to find out more about our legal system, and who knows? Maybe it will inspire them to consider a career in the law.”
The competition, supported by 850KOA Radio and the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHASSA), is open to any graduating Colorado senior enrolled in an accredited school. Students will submit an application and their essay to Burg Simpson no later than February 8, 2013. Full terms and conditions and details on how to enter are available here or by calling Gina Clement at 303.792.5595.
