The date has been set for this year’s Jeremy Bitner Memorial 5K/10K Run and 5K Walk. The sixth annual event, planned for June 16th at Cornerstone Park in Englewood, honors the late Englewood Police Detective Jeremy Bitner, who died in the line of duty on May 28, 2012, after a vehicle struck and killed him during a routine traffic stop.

Registration is now open for the event, which begins at 6:30 a.m.

Jeremy served in the Englewood Police Department for nearly a decade, working in various departments, such as patrol, SWAT, and as a field training officer.

The memorial run and walk raises money for the Fallen Officer Fund, which helps the surviving family members of Colorado’s fallen law enforcement officers, including:

Sgt. Baldwin – Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office
Sgt. Renfro – Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office
Trooper Taylor Thyfault – Colorado State Patrol
