Burg Simpson Supports “Wish for Wheels”
For most children, there is nothing better than a new set of wheels. But in the Denver area, one child out of every five kids lives in poverty and their dream of having a new bike is a tall order. To address this issue, the Wish for Wheels Foundation has committed to providing a new bike and helmet to the students at Title I Elementary schools in the Denver Metro area. The law firm of Burg Simpson recently got involved in the cause when John Connell, a trial lawyer with the Workers’ Compensation Division of Burg Simpson, and Robyn Weiner, a Burg Simpson legal professional, worked together this fall at Wish for Wheels to build bikes! Every year Wish for Wheels donates the new bikes, and new helmets, to the boys and girls of an entire second-grade school class.
Wish for Wheels is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that gives brand new bicycles and helmets to children in low-income communities. Founded in 2004, their first giveaway made it clear that the bikes bring health, fitness, and happiness into these kids’ lives, and for that reason, Wish for Wheels is committed to making a difference. Their mission is to transform the lives of 2nd graders from low-income communities, broadening their scope for personal growth and a healthy lifestyle. And the Wish for Wheels vision is that one day every child will be the proud owner of a new bike and a new helmet.
Wish for Wheels unique model bundles corporate philanthropy, team building, and employee engagements through bike building events that deliver brand new bikes to children in the community. The success of this organization is made possible due in part to the generosity of corporate partners and committed volunteers in the community like John Connell and Robyn Weiner!
