Fallen Officer Honored with Headstone

Patrolman Alson E. McCasland, who served with the Denver Police Department, was recently honored for his service to the community more than 80 years following his death. Officer McCasland lost his life while in the line of duty on May 28th, 1935, a month after his motorcycle collided with an automobile at 19th and Clarkson. The Denver Police Museum acknowledged McCasland’s service to the city of Denver with a headstone and a memorial sign at the site of the accident. A flag was presented to his family at the ceremony as a symbol of honor for the fallen officer. The sign erected for McCasland at the scene of the accident is just one of 30 such signs that will be placed by the Denver Police Museum to honor Denver officers killed in the line of duty.
