Two Colorado law firms, Burg Simpson from Denver, and  Duthie Savastano Brungard from Durango, are currently representing many of the victims of the Durango “416 Fire”. An amended complaint regarding the fire was filed in La Plata County District Court on November 15, 2018. The number of plaintiffs has more than tripled since the complaint was originally filed on September 7th of this year.

Following an intensive investigation , nationally renowned forest fire investigation experts have now definitively concluded that the cause of the 416 Fire was one or more burning embers, burning cinder-like materials, and or/sparks from the coal-fired steam locomotive operated by the defendants, Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Company and the parent company, American Heritage Railways. The plaintiffs are seeking to hold the D&SNGRC, its parent company, AHR, and the companies’ principal, Mr. Allen C. Harper, responsible for the harm they suffered as a result of the fire.
