New Book Published on Vaccine Injury Recovery
Burg Simpson Shareholder Co-Authors Book on Vaccine Injury Recovery
Although vaccines, and vaccine injuries, have been around for decades, the sheer size of the current Covid-19 pandemic and the development of new vaccines has brought these issues into the spotlight. Seeing a need to educate attorneys who may be confronted with questions regarding vaccine injuries, attorney Janet Abaray and Professor James O’Reilly co-authored a recently published book entitled “Vaccine Risks, Benefits, and Compensation.” Their collaboration resulted in practical guidance on understanding vaccines generally (including Covid-19 vaccines), the law and administrative programs that have developed around vaccines, and what compensation is potentially available, if any, to those injured by vaccines.
Janet Abaray, recently retired Managing Shareholder of Burg Simpson’s Cincinnati office, has litigated pharmaceutical product liability cases for decades and frequently speaks on product liability and safety issues. Professor O’Reilly teaches at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and has authored 55 textbooks and more than 230 articles on safety, health, and medical litigation. Ms. Abaray and Mr. O’Reilly’s efforts were assisted by Burg Simpson Associate Jessica Powell, who, prior to becoming a lawyer, spent over a decade deciding medical claims of disability. Ms. Powell works out of the Cincinnati office of Burg Simpson and handles product liability, medical malpractice, and National Vaccine Compensation Program claims.
