Scott Eldredge Seeks Justice for a Victim of Sexual Assault in Aspen

Burg Simpson shareholder and trial lawyer Scott J. Eldredge is currently representing a victim in a civil lawsuit in Aspen, Colorado. The case has been filed against Rev. Michael O’Brien, a former priest who stands accused of sexually assaulting Mr. Keegan Callahan. Mr. Callahan, who is now 24 years old, was a 7-year-old altar boy in Aspen when the alleged abuse began in approximately 2004.  Mr. Callahan has accused the priest of assaulting him over 300 times over a 4 year period. The lawsuit, filed in Denver District Court, also accuses the priest of beating the boy on occasions when the child resisted the priest’s physical demands.

Father Michael O’Brien has denied the claims made by Mr. Callahan in the complaint and is preparing to fight the allegations in court. The Aspen Police Department is currently conducting a criminal investigation into Callahan’s assertions. The Catholic Archdiocese is waiting for the Aspen Police Department to complete the inquiry before undertaking its own internal investigation.

Mr. Scott Eldredge, Mr. Callahan’s attorney from Burg Simpson Eldredge Harsh & Jardine, characterized the allegations as “horrific”, and said, “It was a repeated episode of abuse, and we are looking forward to trial.”
