Queens, NY – Explosion on 47th Ave in Sunnyside Leaves One Injured

Queens, NY (August 23, 2021) – Emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at an explosion incident in the Sunnyside section of Queens. At around 11 a.m., on August 17, an explosion was reported on 47th Avenue.

Reports from the New York Fire Department show that an explosion occurred in the area of 39-33 47th Avenue. The incident prompted emergency crews to close off the roadway as they worked to clear the scene. One person sustained severe injuries and burns in the explosion. The victim was rushed to a local hospital for care. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
