Kristin Schlotterbeck

Attorney

Kristin Schlotterbeck is an attorney in Burg Simpson’s Personal Injury Department. Ms. Schlotterbeck earned her Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law – Newark, where she also obtained a Master of Public Affairs and Politics.  Ms. Schlotterbeck is passionate about protecting civil rights and increasing equal access to justice. During law school, Ms. Schlotterbeck gained hands-on legal experience advocating for individuals unable to afford representation. She served as both an Equal Justice America Fellow and a Deborah T. Portiz Fellow, focusing primarily on assisting victims of violence in obtaining protective orders. As a 2024 Eagleton Fellow, Ms. Schlotterbeck interned with the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General Division on Civil Rights Policy Unit. She is particularly interested in advocating for disadvantaged individuals and communities against corporate interests and in using law, public policy, and strategic communications to shape our world for the better.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Schlotterbeck worked in the nonprofit sector on behalf of victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, and trafficking. In that role, she managed educational programming in both school and community settings. She brings this background—including extensive public speaking experience and work with individuals who have experienced mental and physical trauma—into her personal injury practice. Before joining Burg Simpson, Ms. Schlotterbeck practiced family law with Legal Services of New Jersey where she learned a litigation approach grounded in both tenacious advocacy and compassion.
