After receiving more than 100 complaints of laceration injuries to customers’ fingers and hands, Mueller Austria is recalling its Onion Chopper Pro, model number M-700. According to the recall notice, the Onion Chopper Pro has a tab that locks the blade into position (circled below); however, that tab can detach from the device when pressed, causing the user’s hands and fingers to slide into the blades. Thus far, Mueller Austria has received notification of 266 incidents of the tab breaking, resulting in 137 laceration injuries to consumer’s fingers and hands.

According to the recall notice, the Onion Chopper Pro model M-700 was sold exclusively on Amazon from September 2016 through July 2020, with approximately 106,000 units sold. The product is gray and green with the Mueller Austria logo printed on the side and comes with two stainless steel blade discs, a 4-cup clear container, and a cleaning brush. The model number is located either on the product or its packaging.

Mueller Austria has instructed consumers who have purchased the Onion Chopper Pro model M-700 to immediately stop using the product and contact Mueller Austria for a free replacement model that has a newly-designed locking tab. For more information regarding this recall, click here.
