In 2010, DePuy undertook steps to withdraw these medical devices after reports published in Britain revealed that between 12 percent and 13 percent of patients who received the ASR® Hip Resurfacing System and/or the ASR® XL Acetabular System would need corrective surgery within five years – a rate more than twice the industry average. According to DePuy, evidence suggests the risk of revision surgery is greater in female patients and recipients of devices with a head size of less than 50mm in diameter.
Concerns surrounding the quality of the ASR® Hip Resurfacing System and ASR® XL Acetabular System first surfaced several years ago, after it emerged that an increasing number of patients fitted with these implants were forced to undergo painful and expensive operations after their devices failed. According to reports, the Food and Drug Administration has received more than 400 complaints regarding these devices since the start of 2008.
If a loved one has suffered serious pain or if they have needed corrective surgery following either an ASR® Hip Resurfacing System or an ASR® XL Acetabular System implant, you could be entitled to compensation, but you need to get in touch with us now.

Burg Simpson is also investigating several reports of issues with the DePuy PINNACLE® hip replacement system. The DePuy PINNACLE® hip replacement comprises a modular acetabular cup with a cup liner made of either polyethylene or metal. Femoral head options used in this device are ceramic or metal, with Metal-on-Metal combinations used frequently.
A significant number of DePuy PINNACLE MoM hips appear to have required early revision. As with the DePuy ASR®, the primary issues in failure appear to be cup loosening and metallosis. DePuy PINNACLE® cases are being transferred to MDL 2244, pending in the Northern District of Texas.
If you or a loved one has experienced serious pain or required corrective surgery following a DePuy PINNACLE® implant, you could be eligible for compensation. Call Burg Simpson’s office in Wyoming so we can go over your case details with you. Call us today at 307-527-7891.
