According to Wyoming state law, a person is guilty of assault when he or she “unlawfully attempts to cause bodily injury to another.” Simple assault is classified as a misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine of up to $750.

The state also classifies battery as a misdemeanor and is defined as the intentional and/or reckless bodily injury of another person through physical force.
