Burg Simpson is not currently pursuing new Accutane® cases.
Accutane® is an oral prescription drug used to treat severe cases of acne. Manufactured by Hoffman-LaRoche, Accutane® contains a chemical called isotretinoin, a form of vitamin A or retinoid. Since first approved for use in the United States in 1982, it is estimated that more than 13 million prescriptions have been written for Accutane®.
However, despite its widespread use, Accutane® has been linked to a number of serious side effects and incurable conditions. Tragically, there have also been numerous reports of deaths linked to use of the drug.
ACCUTANE® SIDE EFFECTS:
- Crohn’s disease
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Ischemic colitis
- Ulcerative colitis
Despite being withdrawn from the market in 2009, Accutane® remains the subject of more than five thousand lawsuits nationwide, the majority of which involve claims by those diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn’s disease.
Recently plaintiffs in Accutane IBD lawsuits have won substantial jury verdicts. In March 2010, an Alabama man was awarded more that $25 million by a New Jersey Jury, after successfully proving that Accutane ® was responsible for the onset of his IBD.
