On April 11, 2019, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) announced that DICK’S Sporting Goods is recalling a tree-hanging stand marketed for hunters. According to the CPSC’s recall notice, the Field & Stream Timberline Hang On Tree Stand poses a fall hazard, as the weld on the seat can break causing the seat to fall from the tree. Indeed, there have been at least three reports of the tree stand seats breaking.
The recall affects about 2,600 units sold at DICK’S Sporting Goods and Field & Stream, both online and in stores nationwide. The tree stands are brown metal with a black seat canvas featuring the words “Field & Stream” printed on the seat’s underside. Owners are urged to cease use of the tree stands immediately, and both DICK’s and Field & Stream are offering a full refund or store credit.
