A study published this week in the journal “Drug Testing and Analysis,” [1] reviewed 21 weight-loss and performance enhancing supplements and found that more than half contained a chemical that may cause serious injury and/or death. The supplements are supposed to contain a plant substance called “Acacia rigidula,” but tests showed that half of the drugs actually contained the dangerous chemical BMPEA (beta-methylphenylethylamine). BMPEA is believed to create serious health risks similar to those caused by use of amphetamine.

Animal studies completed in the 1930s-40s showed that BMPEA increases blood pressure and heart rate – similar to what happens with the use of amphetamine. Only one small human study was ever done, but the results were not properly documented.   It is only now, that the true danger of BMPEA is finally being exposed.

Brands containing BMPEA are sold online and at vitamin and nutritional shops around the country – here are just a few examples:

·         Aro Black Series Burn
·         Black Widow
·         Dexaprine XR
·         Fastin-XR
·         Jet Fuel Superburn
·         Jet Fuel T-300
·         Liprodrene Hardcore
·         Lipodrene Xtreme
·         MX-LS7
·         Stimerex-ES
·         Yellow Scorpion
