David P. Hersh, a shareholder at Burg Simpson Eldredge Hersh and Jardine, P.C. has recently been appointed by Justice Marquez to serve on the Supreme Court Task Force on Lawyer Well-being.  The committee was created in response to a recent study, “The Path to Lawyer Well-Being: Practical Recommendations for Positive Change,” which was published by the National Task Force on Lawyer Well-Being. The research determined that “too many attorneys and law students experience chronic stress and high rates of depression and substance use.” The task force, which is currently being chaired by Associate Justice Monica Márquez, is made up of attorneys from private practice, university personnel, judges, and members of local bar associations. Dave is also chairing the newly-formed Arapahoe County Bar Association Committee on Lawyer Well-being that was created at his suggestion.

Both of these committees were created to assist lawyers who have problems related to substance abuse, addiction, depression, and anxiety. The task force members are offering their combined wisdom and the breadth of their experience to support those within their profession who are struggling to maintain their inner balance. It is the goal of these committees to bring awareness to the entire legal community about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
