MEDTRONIC RECALL OF CARDIAC DEFIBRILLATORS
Medtronic has issued a recall of certain Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators (ICDs) and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Defibrillators (CRT-Ds). Please see the Medtronic recall notice here: Medtronic Letter. The ICDs and CRT-Ds devices provide pacing for slow heart rhythms and electrical shock or pacing to stop dangerously fast heart rhythms. Medtronic’s recall is due to a manufacturing defect which causes an out of specification gas mixture inside the device. The manufacturing defect may prevent the device from delivering the electrical shock needed to pace a patient’s heartbeat or revive a patient in cardiac arrest.
What devices are affected? As the recall relates to a manufacturing defect, only certain ICDs and CRT-Ds are subject to the recall. The following devices are subject to the recall:
