Burg Simpson shareholder, Craig Nuss, and Burg Simpson associate, Penny Manship:

“Sitting for a Deposition:  Everything You Need to Know but Were Afraid to Ask.”

It is likely that you will have you deposition taken at least once as a community association manager or board member.  During this fast-paced, interactive class you will learn the basics of sitting for a deposition including what a deposition is, why it is taken, the parties, and its importance in litigation.  Also covered will be the preparation and skills necessary to effectively answer questions including the importance of association records.   This class will also review what happens post deposition.  There may be some role playing opportunities for the brave attendees.

Burg Simpson shareholder, Mari Perczak, and Burg Simpson shareholder, Michael Menghini:

“Manager Testimony in Court – How to Be a Star on the Stand.”

Your palms are sweaty, your face is getting flushed and you are thinking of calling in sick…a day in court does not have to be that bad. During this fun, interactive class you will learn how to be comfortable with testifying in court and fulfilling an essential role in helping associations get justice.  This class will cover the 10 rules of an effective speaker and how you can use those rules on the stand to effectively communicate what is in your records and the data and facts of a case to help judges and jurors understand why the association should prevail.
