THE HUMAN BODY PART CASE
Channel 7 interviews Burg Simpson About the “Human Body Part Case”:
Michael S. Burg and David K. TeSelle, trial lawyers at the Denver-based firm of Burg Simpson Eldredge Hersh & Jardine, were recently interviewed by Denver’s Channel 7 about a once-secret black-market industry that involves the selling of human body parts. Mr. Burg and Mr. TeSelle are currently representing more than five dozen families in a claim filed against the owners of Sunset Mesa Funeral Directors and the companies who are accused of buying body parts from them.
Attorney Michael Burg, the firm’s founder, says, “The selling of human remains is an underground industry that most people don’t know about. These funeral homes are defrauding grieving families by obtaining the bodies of their loved ones, at no cost to themselves, and then dismembering the bodies and selling the individual body parts on the black market for thousands of dollars.” “It is unbelievable,” said attorney Dave Teselle, “These illegitimate businesses are buying and selling body parts just like anything you would purchase off the shelf at a retail store.”
Mr. Burg and Mr. TeSelle, who are currently suing body brokers in Colorado and Arizona, have become experts on this once clandestine industry of selling human body parts on a worldwide market.
