Denver, Colorado – Burg Simpson is proud to continue the tradition of selecting 10 Colorado high school seniors as scholarship recipients in their 4th Annual Scholarship Competition.
Burg Simpson awarded nine $1,000 scholarships and one grand prize of $2,500 at a special reception held on April 14, 2016 for the winners, their families, and teachers. The scholarship recipients were also recognized on center court during half time of the Colorado State Boys Basketball Championship on March 12, 2016. In order to be considered for the competition, high school seniors from across Colorado submitted essays about the importance of the civil jury system as the guardian of American rights and liberties. The winners of this year’s Scholarship Competition include:
- Molly Culhane (East High School) – Grand Prize Winner
- Keelan Barden (Ralston Valley High School)
- Anne Curtiss (Valor Christian High School)
- Elyse Hofer-Draper (Valor Christian High School)
- Easton Karna (Strasburg High School)
- Isabella Morfe (Valor Christian High School)
- Kylee Sibilia (Cherry Creek High School)
- Veronika Viescas (Rocky Ford Junior/Senior High School)
- Abigail Wist (Regis Jesuit High School)
Burg Simpson shareholder Steven Greenlee said, “I’m thrilled that over the past four years we have been able to award $44,500 in college scholarships to Colorado seniors. Most of the students who entered the competition knew little about the civil jury system before writing their essays, but it was clear that they were able to realize the critical importance of protecting it. The quality of the essays–and particularly the winning essays– written by students across the state have been extremely high over the years and this year was no exception. We look forward to continuing to educate the young people of Colorado about the importance of the civil jury system and provide more college-bound seniors the opportunity to obtain college funds.”
The Burg Simpson Scholarship Competition is made possible through the contributions of Burg Simpson and the generous support of community partners 850 KOA and the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA).
