Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies paid tribute to one of their own last week – with a hockey game.
A suspect shot Adams County Deputy Heath Gumm to death during a foot chase on Jan. 24, 2018.
So several of his former recreation league hockey teammates and law enforcement colleagues honored him with a charity hockey game in Superior, Colorado. All of the proceeds from the game – including ticket and concession sales, and a silent auction – went to Gumm’s widow.
Burg Simpson, a longtime supporter of the law enforcement community, pitched in by providing all the hockey jerseys players used during the game – all of which featured Gumm’s number.
In addition to Burg Simpson’s charity work, shareholder Nick D. Fogel works to help first responders who’ve been hurt in the line of duty.
