Durango, CO – Man Killed & Wife Injured in Crash on Highway 160 near MM 60

Durango, CO (July 10, 2021) – A motor vehicle accident reported just west of Durango on Wednesday claimed one man’s life. At approximately 3:30 p.m., on July 7, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed at the scene of a crash on Highway 160.

Reports from authorities show that a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Highway 160, while occupied by a 38-year-old man and his 40-year-old wife as well as their 4-year-old son. For unknown reasons, the vehicle collided with a westbound vehicle as the driver of the westbound vehicle made an unsafe pass.

The 38-year-old man sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased at the scene. The woman was rushed to a local hospitalize with serious injuries. The child was uninjured in the accident. At this time, the incident remains under investigation with the Colorado State Patrol.
