Greeley, CO – Boy Attacked by Dog on 23rd Ave
Greeley, CO (January 22, 2021) – One boy was left with severe injuries following a dog attack on Saturday. At around 3 p.m., on January 16, emergency crews were called to the scene of a dog attack off 23rd Avenue.
Reports show that an 11-year-old boy was playing with his friends in a field just off 23rd Avenue on the north side of Greeley. As the five boys were playing, a dog ran over to them in the field. The five children took off running and attempted to jump nearby fences to escape. As the dog attempted to reach a 2-year-old and 5-year-old child, an 11-year-old boy assisted them over the fence. The 11-year-old was then attacked by the pit bull. The child was able to kick the dog away and free himself. He was rushed to an area hospital where he remained hospitalized for several days due to severe injuries. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the victims injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.
Dog Attacks in Colorado
Every year, tens of thousands of people are injured in accidents on another person’s property. Dog attacks, in particular, can leave victims with overwhelming mental, physical, and emotional pain and suffering. Many victims suffer debilitating injuries that require extensive medical treatment and hospitalization. Quite often, those involved in these unimaginable incidents are unaware of legal options available to them.
In Colorado, premises liability cases are able to be filed in some instances where people are injured or killed on another person’s property. The injured party must prove that they were an “invited guest” to the property. Generally, bar patrols are considered invitees, or people who enter the property for business purposes. These guests are owed a duty of care from the property owner. When property owners fail to implement adequate security measures, and their guests are injured, they can be held liable for resulting injuries and damages. Working with Colorado personal injury lawyers will ensure victims get the justice they deserve.
