The Jeremy Bitner Memorial Run: Sign Up and Run Now!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control, the Jeremy Bitner Fallen Officer Fund Board of Directors is now hosting a virtual run. The Jeremy Bitner Fallen Officer 5k/10k Run & 5k Walk, which had been scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2020, is now in progress as a virtual run for the entire month of June.

To assist families of fallen officers, sign up here to register your own 5k run/walk or 10k run, and post your results to the Jeremy Bitner Fallen Officer Fund Facebook page. If you top your own personal record, bragging rights are allowed! The virtual race ends on Tuesday, June 30th, and following the event, the foundation will mail you a 2020 race t-shirt to thank you for your participation. Burg Simpson Supports Families of Fallen Officers

Shareholder Nick Fogel is a founding board member of the Jeremy Bitner Fallen Officer Fund. The Fund was created in honor of Detective Bitner and provides assistance to the families of fallen officers. Since its inception, the Fund has provided assistance to families of the last 16 law enforcement members killed in the line of duty. This year, the Bitner Fund has approved a donation to the family of El Paso County Deputy Jeff Hopkins. Officer Hopkins lost his life in April of 2020 due to complications related to COVID-19.

Burg Simpson shareholder Nick Fogel is proud to be a founding board member of the Jeremy Bitner Fallen Officer Fund. The organization was created in honor of Detective Jeremy Bitner, who was killed by a drunk driver while in the line of duty. The Fund provides assistance to the families of officers that have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Nick Fogel is a shareholder and the practice group leader for Burg Simpson’s Workers’ Compensation team. The firm’s workers’ compensation department has been recognized by US News and World Report with Tier One Status, the highest-ranking available. Nick’s practice is devoted to those who have been injured while working on the job and in the line of duty.
