Law Week Colorado – Year in Review 2018
The December 24, 2018 edition of Law Week Colorado highlights newsworthy events in the courts, federal regulatory agencies, and within the legal industry. In their 2018 Year in Review section, Law Week recapped the Durango “416 Fire” which started on June 1, 2018 and burned more than 50,000 acres of land, making it the sixth-largest wild-fire in Colorado history.
Two Colorado law firms –Shareholder Thomas W. Henderson with Burg Simpson from Denver and Duthie Savastano Brungard from Durango, have teamed up to represent many victims of the blaze. They have filed a lawsuit in La Plata County District Court against the operators of the train that runs between Durango and Silverton. The plaintiffs’ lawyers claim the train company’s management was negligent in operating the train during dry conditions, which led to the wildfire and damage to resident’s property.
