Race Discrimination Claims Attorneys

Title VII expressly forbids discrimination based on race, which includes characteristics associated with race, such as skin color. Title VII also precludes discrimination against a person because they associate with persons of another race, such as interracial dating.
Like other forms of discrimination, race discrimination can result from intentional discrimination or from disparate impact, such as testing which has the result of excluding persons of color from employment.
Racial harassment is a form of race discrimination, and is also precluded by Title VII. An employer is prohibited from engaging in racially motivated harassment or from tolerating or maintaining a racially hostile work environment. A hostile environment exists when unwelcome, severe, and repeated racial comments or acts interfere with a persons job performance or create an intimidating, hostile or offensive working environment.
It is important to note that the harassment must be either severe or pervasive. Infrequent or isolated conduct may be insufficient to support a claim for harassment.
