Law Week Names Attorney Diane Smith One of Colorado's "Top Women"
Attorney Diane Smith of Burg Simpson Eldredge Hersh & Jardine, PC was recently named by Law Week as one of Colorado’s “top women.” The August 4, 2008 edition of the publication notes one of Diane Vaksdal Smith most recent legal successes: the recovery of benefits for 208 RTD employees in a class action suit.
In the late 1990s, RTD reduced the amount of pension benefits employees who had moved into a management position would receive. Without needing a trial, Smith recovered all past and future pension benefits for the RTD employees, and the present value of the settlement is $5 million, with benefits accruing to those already retired and those still working.
Ms. Smith focuses her practice on employment issues and represents both employers and employees in cases involving wrongful discharge, wrongful termination and civil rights infringement issues. She also handles personal injury litigation at the firm, which she joined in 1997.
