PETER BURG APPOINTED TO THE BEXTRA AND CELEBREX MARKETING SALES PRACTICES AND PRODUCT LIABILITY
MULTI-DISTRICT LITIGATION PLAINTIFFS' STEERING COMMITTEE
Monday, December 13, 2005
On December 13, 2005, Judge Charles L. Breyer, the federal judge presiding over the Bextra and Celebrex Marketing Sales Practices and Product Liability Multi-District Litigation in the Northern District of California, appointed several lawyers to serve on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee. One of those lawyers was Peter Burg of Burg Simpson. The PSC reports directly to Judge Breyer, and is responsible for conducting pre-trial proceedings on behalf of all plaintiffs who have cases in the MDL.
When asked to comment, Peter Burg said: "I am honored to receive this prestigious appointment and the opportunity to serve on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee in one of the largest MDL proceedings in U.S. history. Over 20 lawyers vied for appointment on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee. I take this responsibility seriously, and will work closely with the other lawyers on the PSC in managing and conducting pre-trial proceedings on behalf of the plaintiffs. My leadership role in this giant MDL proceeding is a testament to the reputation Burg Simpson has achieved in the mass torts arena as a result of its excellent work in previous MDL proceedings-particularly the Zyprexa and Vioxx MDLs."
