MIKE BURG APPOINTED TO VIOXX MDL STATE LIAISON COMMITTEE BY JUDGE FALLON
May 16, 2005
On May 16, 2005, Judge Fallon, the federal judge presiding over the Vioxx products liability multidistrict litigation, appointed nine lawyers from around the country to serve on the State Liaison Committee. One of those lawyers was Mike Burg of Burg Simpson. The committee reports directly to Judge Fallon, and is responsible for coordinating relationships between and among lawyers handling Vioxx cases in state courts and keeping Judge Fallon informed as to issues arising out of those cases.
When asked to comment, Mike Burg said: "I am honored to receive this prestigious appointment and the opportunity to serve on behalf of Judge Fallon in the largest MDL proceeding in U.S. history. Over 100 lawyers vied for appointment on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee and the State Liaison Committee. I take this responsibility seriously, and will work closely with lawyers handling state court Vioxx cases in the Rocky Mountain region. My leadership role in this giant MDL proceeding is a testament to the reputation Burg Simpson has achieved in the mass torts arena as a result of its excellent work in previous MDL proceedings-particularly the Zyprexa MDL where I was privileged there to serve on the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee."
