Contaminated Human Tissue Claims Attorneys
in Denver and Nationwide
Tissue transplant and spinal fusion surgery patients around the country may have received potentially tainted or contaminated tissue or bone during routine surgeries. At least 2 human tissue-harvesting companies have supplied tissue to companies that process the tissue without adequate screening to eliminate the risk that the tissue is infected or diseased.
In October 2005, the FDA issued a recall of certain donor human tissue used in surgeries collected by Biomedical Tissue Services. The tissue, including bone, tendons, and skin, may have been harvested illegally, in many cases from donors who were not screened for infectious diseases. The company then falsified records to hide their conduct from the distribution facilities that sent the tainted tissue on to recipients. Biomedical Tissue Services may have stolen the tissue from corpses at funeral homes, skipping the mandatory testing process, and selling the tissue to a large distributor of donor tissue.
Our hands-on experience in the human tissue industry will allow us to better help you. One of our attorneys previously worked as a Tissue Procurement Specialist and Procurement Team Leader for the Rochester Eye and Human Parts Bank, where she performed surgical tissue procurement procedures on tissue donors in order to recover transplantable joints and tissues for recipients across the country. We can apply our industry-specific knowledge and experience to help evaluate and handle your case.
If you have had an operation in which human donor tissue, bone, tendons, or skin was used and have tested positive for any communicable or other serious disease, or if you believe you may have contracted a communicable or other serious disease following surgery, or if you have been notified that you may have received tainted, contaminated, or diseased tissue, please call or email us today for a free consultation. At Burg Simpson Eldredge Hersh & Jardine, P.C., our Colorado and Ohio product liability attorneys represent people like you who may have suffered injuries because of defective medical devices including tissue procurement products.
