Hotel Fire Injuries

National Trial Lawyers

At approximately 11:00 a.m. local time on Friday, January 25, 2008, a three-alarm fire broke out at the top of MGM Mirage’s Monte Carlo Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas strip, forcing the evacuation of all 3,002 rooms and its casino. More than a dozen people, at the time of this writing, have suffered injuries.

Injuries sustained from in a fire can be very serious and even fatal and may include smoke inhalation, first-, second-, and third-degree burns, broken bones from falls, cardiac injury from the sheer fear of being in a fire, traumatic brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries from falls or from debris toppling down on top of you. If you or a loved one was injured in this fire or any fire in the United States, and feel that you may be entitled to monetary compensation for your medical bills and lost income, there is legal help available to you today.

In this latest hotel fire in Vegas, five hotel guests and eight engineers suffered from smoke inhalation, according to a spokesman for the MGM hotel. Approximately 120 firefighters responded to the blaze at approximately 11 a.m., and fortunately, the fire was contained approximately 90 minutes later. According to reports, the hotel fire was restricted to the exterior of the building, and, allegedly, the sprinklers did not even go off in some of those rooms (on the top floor) around the fire because no smoke was inside. The fire affected the roof of the Monte Carlo hotel and at least two floors below.

The Monte Carlo hotel has certainly seen its share of tragedy in the last few decades. This fire brought back memories of a blaze in 1980 at the MGM hotel that killed 87 people and led to new safety measures for hotels across the United States. Fortunately, no deaths have been reported in the 2008 blaze.
