The Jeremy Bitner Memorial Fund was established in honor of Englewood Police Detective Jeremy Bitner. Detective Bitner lost his life in the line of duty on May 28, 2012, after being struck and killed by a vehicle while performing a traffic stop.
Jeremy served the Englewood Police Department for 8 years and during that time was assigned to patrol, was a SWAT team member, and was a Field Training Officer. Jeremy loved being a police officer and serving his community. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many.
Burg Simpson shareholder Nick Fogel helped participate in the development of the fund as an inaugural board member. He continues to offer support through his role as a current board member and his active participation in the annual Jeremy Bitner Memorial 5K/10K Run & Walk. Proceeds from this event benefit the Fallen Officer Fund, to assist the families of fallen law enforcement officers in Colorado. Additionally, the fund provides assistance to Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) and Judi’s House – organizations that provide bereavement programs for the families of fallen officers.
The 4th annual Jeremy Bitner Memorial 5K/10K Run & Walk will be held on Saturday, June 18th, 2016, at Cornerstone Park in Englewood. For more details or to register, please visit the Jeremy Bitner Memorial Fund website.
